How Many Pages Does a Small Business Website Need?

By 11:11 Websites · Updated October 20, 2026

There's no magic number of pages for a small business website. A one-page site can work beautifully, and a 50-page site can be a confusing mess. What matters is that every page has a job. Here's how to figure out the right size for your business.

The core pages almost every business needs

If you're building a multi-page site, start with these five:

  1. Home. What you do, where, and how to contact you, plus a summary of everything else.
  2. Services (or Menu, or Products). What you offer, clearly.
  3. About. Who you are and why customers can trust you.
  4. Reviews or Portfolio. Proof that you do good work.
  5. Contact. Phone, email, form, address or service area, hours, and a map if you have a location.

That's a solid five-page website, and it's enough for many businesses.

Pages worth adding

A page for each main service

If you offer several services, a useful dedicated page can explain each service more clearly to people and search engines. A page called "Water Heater Repair" can rank for "water heater repair." A bullet point on a long services list usually can't.

Each service page should explain what the service is, who it's for, what it costs or how pricing works, and how to book it.

A page for each area you serve

If you work in several cities or neighborhoods, a page for each can help you appear in local searches. Make each one genuinely useful, with local details or projects, not the same text with the city name swapped.

FAQ

Answer the questions customers ask you on every call: pricing, timelines, what's included, what to expect. It saves you time and builds trust.

Pricing

If you can share prices or starting prices, do. Many customers skip businesses that hide them.

Blog or Guides

Helpful articles bring in people searching for answers, some of whom will become customers. Only add a blog if you'll actually post to it.

Pages you probably don't need

Suggested sizes by business type

Business Suggested pages
New business, one service 1 page
Restaurant or café 4–6 (Home, Menu, About, Gallery, Contact, Catering)
Salon or barber 5–7 (Home, Services and Prices, Team, Gallery, Reviews, Book, Contact)
Contractor or home service 6–12 (Home, a page per service, Gallery, Reviews, Service Areas, Contact)
Coach or consultant 4–6 (Home, Services, About, Results, Book a Call, Contact)
Real estate agent 5–8 (Home, Listings, Buyers, Sellers, About, Neighborhoods, Contact)

The real rule: one page, one job

Before adding any page, ask: "What is this page for, and what should a visitor do next?" If you can't answer clearly, you probably don't need it yet.

Start with the pages that bring in customers. Add more as you learn what your customers search for and ask about. A focused six-page site that's kept up to date beats a sprawling one that isn't.
